What to expect
Before you meet with your therapist, you’ll receive a link from Simple Practice to complete you intake information. This includes a brief intake questionnaire. You are welcome to share as much or as little you’d like. This helps your therapist to get to know you, your history and where you’d like to go.
One-on-one sessions are generally 50 minutes.
We meet virtually using the HIPAA compliant platform Simple Practice. You’ll receive a new link via email and text for each session.
In the first meeting you can expect to discuss what you’re experiencing and what you’d like to get out of therapy.
You and your therapist can work together to define your personalized goals and trajectory for the therapeutic process. Additionally, you and your therapist can discuss what a support session structure may consist of.
From here, you and your therapist can discuss frequency of meeting. Generally, we like to start with meeting once per week.
This helps up to get to know you and find a rhythm of working together. Frequency of sessions is an ongoing conversation. Once per week and once every two weeks is a great cadence for actively processing or creating change. Every three weeks to once a month is best for maintenance, or supporting new ways of being.
Therapy is a personal journey—some clients find relief in a few sessions, while others engage in deeper work over months or years. We will assess your needs and set a treatment plan that aligns with your goals.
Through the therapeutic process your therapist will utilize evidence based modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, and mindfulness to uncover and heal from past experiences and break unhelpful patterns that may be holding you back. Y’all can work together to build up coping and communication skills:
